Theatre Alive Nelson is the region’s major producer of live theatrical entertainment. For many years Theatre Alive has successfully produced a wide variety of plays and interactive theatre to amuse and entertain audiences. Past live theatre shows include Hair and Shirley Valentine and interactive theatre shows such as Allo Allo and Rocky Horror. Dinner theatre is often teamed with these vibrant and exuberant live performances that showcase Nelson’s talent and evoke the feel-good factor in audiences.

Since 2001 Theatre Alive Nelson has staged many New Zealand and overseas plays and musical productions. In 2010 Nelson Theatre Alive presents several plays including Tom Scott’s The Daylight Atheist, Roger Hall’s Four Flat Whites in Italy, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Dale Wasserman and Willy Russell’s musical, Blood Brothers. Such live theatrical entertainment is not limited to live theatre but can include dinner theatre shows. Allo Allo, Rocky Horror, Austin Powers, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Black Adder, Night of the Stars and Grease have been popular. Murder Mystery and Fawlty Towers – or gangster nights and mobster theme dinner theatre shows, are a great choice for a private or corporate function. From rollicking and foxy to suspenseful and uproarious, it is all here in Nelson, with Theatre Alive’s wonderful interactive theatre - it’s a superb night out with friends or workmates.
